The Turabian Style Guide was developed by Kate Larimore Turabian (1893-1987), who worked as the University of Chicago as the graduate school dissertation secretary. She developed A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations in that position. The Turabian style uses two methods for citing sources: notes-bibliography and author-date). The style is similar to the Chicago style with some slight modifications for students.
The Turabian notes-bibliography style is used in literature, history and the arts; the author-date style is used in the physical and social sciences. The Chicago Press has a site for the Turabian manual with a quick citation guide found at: http://www.press.uchicago.edu/books/turabian/turabian_citationguide.html Another reference is from the University of Southern Mississippi Libraries: http://www.lib.usm.edu/help/style_guides/turabian.html
