Style Guide

The Council of Science Editors (CSE) is an international organization with over 800 members. The CSE was founded in 1957 originally funded by the National Science Foundation. They work with around 680 journals from all areas of science from the AAFP Home Study to Zoological Record.

The CSE style guide is used by these science editors to have a uniform look and style. If you are a scientist writing for one of these journals or a student in the sciences, you will need to use the CSE style in your writing.

There are several common citation formats in the CSE style, including citation sequence, name year, and citation name. For a quick citation reference guide, you can go to the scientific style and format site found here: http://www.scientificstyleandformat.org/Tools/SSF-Citation-Quick-Guide.html Penn State also has a quick citation guide: http://psu.libguides.com/CSE Here are a few helpful hints on using this style from Oglethorpe University: http://libraryguides.oglethorpe.edu/content.php?pid=81329&sid=619076
